Dubai is one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates (UAE), alongside Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, and Umm Al Quwain. Situated on the northern coastline of the UAE, Dubai faces the Arabian Gulf. It is bordered by Abu Dhabi to the south, Sharjah to the northeast, and the Sultanate of Oman to the southeast. Its strategic location allows for easy access from Africa, Asia, and Europe, making it a global hub and a favored holiday destination, with two-thirds of the world's population within an eight-hour flight.

Dubai's population is approximately 3.6 million people, as reported by the Government of Dubai's Statistics Center. The city is home to residents from over 200 nationalities, fostering a vibrant, multicultural society.

The UAE flag is a prominent feature throughout Dubai. Established in 1971 to commemorate the formation of the UAE, the flag consists of four horizontal stripes: green at the top, white in the middle, black at the bottom, and a vertical red stripe on the left. According to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the green symbolizes hope, joy, optimism, and love; white represents peace and honesty; black signifies the defeat of enemies and mental strength; and red stands for courage and strength.
